Once you’ve decided what is being advertised, you can look at what particular aspects are being highlighted or emphasised. For instance, say the advertisement is for a Porsche. That’s what the advertisement is for. But what is being emphasised about the Porsche?

Well, advertisements about Porsches usually emphasise things like:

acceleration and top speed,
handling around corners,
braking capability,
style,
driving ability, and
power.
