Consistency in vocabulary
In a piece of writing, try to keep the complexity of the vocabulary consistent. If you have short sentences with very simple words mixed with sections filled with long words, it’s going to look like you are all over the place with your writing style.
In this sample, the first few sentences are written in a very simple style, using short sentences and simple words. Then this long sentence using complicated words comes out of the middle of nowhere. Reading through the text, there’s a sudden jump from simple language to quite complicated language. In general, it’s a good idea to try to avoid this sort of variation in your writing.
