Make sure you talk about things that your audience can plausibly do. For an oral convincing the audience how bad cars are for the environment, you need to talk about doable actions for the audience. A lot of people who don’t live near public transport rely on their cars to get anywhere. Rather than going for a rather blunt, unsympathetic approach of trying to convince them to ditch their car completely, go for a compromise. Get them to use their car half as much. Convince them to carpool. See if they can buy a bike to use when the weather is suitable.
