Oral assessment
In English courses, you do a lot of reading and a lot of talking. Some of the talking is the stuff you do in drama parts of a course, but a lot of it is in general discussion. Having good oral communication skills and abilities is a good thing - it can help you in the real world with lots of things, from speaking in a job interview to delivering a speech at a friend’s wedding or birthday party. People who are politically or socially active need to have good oral presentation skills; otherwise, people are unlikely to listen to them.
You can be asked to do different types of oral presentations. There are informative orals where your main goal is to help your audience learn about a particular topic. Persuasive speaking orals are where you try to influence the attitudes or beliefs of your audience.
