Predicate adjectives

So far, the predicates we’ve covered have been formed using either transitive or intransitive verbs (verbs that don’t act on an object). You can also have predicate adjectives that are formed with linking verbs. Like any other predicate, they complete a sentence and tell you something about the subject:

Helen of Troy was very beautiful.

The linking verb is ‘was’ and the adjective is ‘beautiful’. The predicate is ‘was very beautiful’.
