Active voice
This is the easier voice to work with and recognise. The subject does whatever action the verb is:
In this simple sentence, the subject ‘Jason’ is doing the verb action -the hitting. You can also have a verb in the active voice when the subject is ‘being’ something, like in this sentence:
In this sentence, the verb ‘was’ is still active because it is describing what Michael Jordan is or was.
