Book (and movie) reviews
To write a good book review you need to read the book! This may sound completely obvious, but a lot of students ‘can’t be bothered’ reading the book and go straight to the Internet or one of those novel summary books. This is really not a good idea. First of all, if you’re using something like the Internet to base your review on, you won’t ever know whether what you’re reading is true or not - since you haven’t read the book! Also, if you do read the book, you won’t only be able to write a better book review, but it will help with writing all your other essays as well. Why? Because you’ll be able to make references in your other essays to things that happen in the book, and make yourself look like a real pro.
