Another great way to back up your paragraph topic is by using examples which are relevant to what you’re discussing. Make sure that the examples are relevant. If you present an example that doesn’t really have anything to do with your original idea or concept, you’ll leave the reader scratching their head trying to work out what the example has to do with the topic. Here’s how you can use examples to support your topic sentence:
This paragraph starts with a topic sentence that tells the reader that the paragraph is about large monsters in movies. Then, the reader is given three examples of large monsters featuring in large films. These examples support the statement made in the topic sentence.
