Diaries from someone else’s perspective
One way of making diary writing less personal is if the teacher asks you to write a diary entry for someone else. This other person may be a real life person, or a fictional character in a movie, play, or book. You can get some pretty interesting people to write diary entries for - serial murderers or great historical figures, for instance. The trick with this is to both know lots about the character and their experiences, and also to get wholeheartedly into their character. Try to visualise what it must have been like for that person.
