Personal writing
Personal writing is about exploring yourself and your identity. What this means is taking a bit of time to think about yourself and how and why you’ve become the way you are. It’s a good thing to do but it’s not something many people do naturally, without the idea being suggested to them. It involves analysing how a number of factors have contributed towards your current identity, factors like your gender, your social and your cultural background, and your experiences.
There are a number of ways you can do personal writing. You can write a brief autobiographical account of some defining part of your life that partly explains why you are the person you are. A diary entry is a slightly less formal way of doing a similar thing; usually you’d also write a diary entry for a defining moment in your life.
