Simple subjects
A simple subject is a noun that acts as the subject of a sentence. It also includes any adjectives that describe the subject. Take this sentence, for example:
The large red truck slammed into the side of the building.
To find the subject, you first find the verb - ‘slammed’. Then you ask yourself what is doing the slamming? Answer - ‘the large red truck’. The simple subject is ‘the large red truck’.
