Indefinite pronouns
So a lot of the pronouns we’ve covered are personal pronouns because they refer to a specific thing or person. Indefinite pronouns are used when you want to describe something like a group of people without specifying who each person.
Just about everyone saw the movie Jurassic Park.
‘Everyone’ doesn’t refer to specific people, rather it represents all people. Other indefinite pronouns can represent different amounts of things or numbers of people; for instance:
Some people have read the book Great Expectations.
Few people have successfully climbed Mt Everest.
Some jails are so secure that no-one has ever escaped from them.
