Decimal and fractional numbers
Usually you use a number to describe values that are decimals or fractions.
The recipe needs ¾ of a cup of flour.
Jeremy ate 1.4 kilograms of steak the other day.
Common fractions, however, are often written out in full, so you may also get:
The recipe needs three quarters of a cup of flour.
